Memories age. Their durability and their substance each change. Strangely the former appears to grow, to get more able to withstand revision, while at the same time the memories themselves undergo nearly steady erosion or restructuring. This is far more than fading. Modification occurs through changing connections to other experience, through persuasion and emotion, and through cognitive or ideological actions.
I created many of the works here to submit for an exhibition in Sweden that will explore memory, with a specific but not limiting interest in the interaction of memory and society. While that is a compelling subject I also wanted consider memory at a more personal level, including individual memories as well the force of memory for me individually.
